Broadcast Engineer
ABOUT THE ROLE
Peloton is looking for a Broadcast Engineer to join our growing Media Operations and Engineering team. The Broadcast Engineer will be responsible for supporting state-of-the-art broadcast facilities and maintaining the brand standard broadcast quality as well as keeping an eye on the future for new technologies to implement. This is a growing role at Peloton and responsibilities will continue to expand as new content is developed.
YOUR DAILY IMPACT AT PELOTON
- Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and engineering updates at our studios
- Provide remote support to multiple facilities
- Responsible for the continued function of all studio broadcast systems
- Keep changelogs on all systems
- Follow through on repairs, inventory needs, and updates with the repair equipment in-house where possible, coordinate with vendors for other issues
- Coordinate with the Senior Director of Media Operations & Engineering on new projects and installations
- Learn Peloton’s in-house Content Management Systems
- Ability to tackle problems in a team environment and while under pressure
- Maintain network and system documentation
- Work closely with operational and production staff day-to-day
- Set up and rigging of studio cameras, lighting, and set
- Set up, repair, and maintenance of the studio, recording, editing, and transmission equipment
- Quickly diagnose and implement fixes to maintain continuity of service
- Analyze fault trends and issues, establishing root causes and resolutions
- Proactively ensure that the facility is fit for the proper purpose and improve time
- Source and maintain appropriate spare parts
- Source and maintain technical drawings and equipment documentation and configuration logs
- Design and build custom interfaces as the need arises
- Prepare proposals and costs for developments and improvements
- Install and configure new equipment
- Perform acceptance testing to appropriate industry standards
- Be aware and comply with health and safety policies and procedures contributing advice as appropriate
- Ensure Studios are broadcast ready post-studio reassignment
- Maintain checks of audio and video quality, as well as setting across all studios
- Conduct weekly inspections of control rooms and studios
- Respond to emergencies as it relates to broadcast operations
- Work with Production Techs to maintain a list of ongoing issues and prioritize repairs
- Work with 3rd party vendors and service providers for high-level repairs
- Lead all aspects of the installation of new systems and equipment
YOU BRING TO PELOTON
- Education or equivalent experience in Broadcast Engineering and TV/Video Production
- Extensive Broadcast Engineering in a live environment - TV and/or Live Streaming
- Must be knowledgeable in all areas of technical production and familiar with all studio production equipment including Content Management Systems, Broadcast Audio, Video, and Control Systems, Video Servers, Storage Area Networks, RF Systems, Editing, and Post Production Systems, etc.
- Understanding of Knowledge of existing SMPTE television standards
- Strong knowledge of AutoCAD
- Adequate color vision and stereo hearing
- Strong knowledge of video audio and lighting technologies in a studio environment
- Strong electronics and IT skills
- Creative problem solving - often under pressure
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
